What Our Clients are Saying

This just made my day! A few words from a recent client:

When planning for our wedding on Captiva, my fiancĂ© and I both agreed having an excellent photographer would be at the top of our list.  It didn’t take long for us to come across Krista.  Immediately we were drawn to the natural poses, her eye for lighting and the way she could capture every moment so perfectly.  Not to mention she didn’t skip out on showcasing a bit of fun to her work too.  After our first call with Krista we didn’t look any further.  She completely put us at ease with her experience and knowledge and even helped answer other questions around our day.  Leading up to our day we also had an engagement photo shoot which we HIGHLY recommend.  It was honestly more for me and my fiancĂ© as we clearly aren’t used to being in front of a camera. However, Krista almost makes the camera disappear after a few shots.  Poses started to come naturally and it was great time to get to know Krista before our big day.  I think seeing and hearing how excited Krista gets as she captures a beautiful moment reassured us we’ve hired the right woman.  As expected, Krista and her team during our wedding day were nothing short of 100%.  She even showed up early to start sneaking in a few pictures and was able to work through some last minute changes in our day to ensure she could still capture the perfect moments with our family.  Everything was above and beyond our expectations.  We know her work doesn’t stop after the big day and it didn’t take long to receive the highlights and we were blown away at the hundreds she sent.  It took us right back to our day and we couldn’t be happier with the decision we made to include Krista and her team on our special day.  We will cherish these pictures forever and are so fortunate and grateful for the beautiful work she did.

Making a Differnece in 20 Ways in 2020

20 years is something to celebrate and I'm looking to keep this celebration going all year long. This spring marks 20 years of business for Impressions Photography and I wanted to do something extra special to commemorate the occasion. Starting in March we launched our Making a Difference in 20 Ways in 2020 initiative. The goal is simple, to give back to the community that has so generously supported Impressions Photography over these past 20 years. Over the course of 10 months we will be doing two different philanthropic activities each month. Some are donations of services, some monetary and some are events that everyone can participate in. Each will be directed at helping a non-profit organization or other charitable cause.

All of the details are on the Impressions Photography website and we will keep that updated monthly. April is going to be really special. We are planting 20 trees for every wedding that we add to the calendar (Arbor Day is just around the corner!) and we have BOGO family portrait month. With every family that reserves our services during the month of April a second family portrait will be donated to a family through a local charity. This month everyone that reserves our services for family and wedding photography is helping to do a little something special too!

South Seas Island Resort Wedding | Captiva Island Photographer

This day took us from Chapel by the Sea on Captiva Island for a perfect little church ceremony to South Seas Island Resort where there was a wedding reception and celebration that was non stop fun. And the best part of this day (for us!) was that Impressions Photography was the photo team in charge of capturing all of the fun. From getting ready pictures at South Seas to what is probably the most romantic little seaside church you will ever find for a wedding ceremony, we were there doing the picture thing and being inspired by every bit of it. After the ceremony we took bride and groom pictures at both the Chapel by the Sea and South Seas Island Resort. Both offer some stunning photo backdrops, so there was no shortage of photo opportunities. Then the party of all parties with a fabulous reception venue overlooking the beach and that fabulous Captiva Island sunset. It was definitely a treat to be there to capture this day. Congratulations to the sweet Adam and Rachel!!!

Behind th Scenes at Impressions Photography

Palm trees on Sanibel

Good morning everyone! Just finished working on a wedding day timeline for a potential Impressions Photography client and thought I'd share a little about those timelines. Wedding day timeline suggestions are a little something extra I do for every couple that reaches out. A quick phone conversation or a few questions answered via email usually gives me enough information to put together a timeline idea for couples. Using the information they provide I detail out what they can expect from me and my team during each portion of the day. I feel like just suggesting a time frame that usually works or has worked well with another couple doesn't take into consideration the things that are most important to that individual couple. I think it's important to customize the photography timeline for each couple and offering that information before they've even reserved my services is just a little something extra that Impressions Photography does.

If you are planning your wedding and would like to see my timeline suggestion for your day definitely reach out. I would be happy to detail out all of the important events of the day for you. From scheduling hair and make-up to giving instructions to grandparents, knowing what photographs are happening at what time is a key part of a wedding day. I'd love to help you get started with that plan!

Bride at South Seas Resort Captiva Island Wedding

Just wanted to make an unofficial announcement that the new Impressions Photography website is live, although still a bit of a work in progress. I'm adding a few finishing touches, which includes adding this stunning South Seas Island Resort wedding to the galleries section. I actually think the hardest part of my job is selecting images. Being the photographer at a wedding is a very emotional process. I pour my heart into every picture. There is a personal connection with the moment and then that image. After a wedding removing myself from how much I loved that couple, or that day or how kind and sweet a flower girl was is actually hard. I fall in love with so many pictures and each has it's own little story that means so much to me. selecting the ones that will also connect with a person who wasn't there or doesn't know that sweet bride, is definitely a challenge. So if you're looking at the new site and you see a photo and you're thinking "why would she share that silly picture", it might just be because it reminds me of a special time and it makes my heart happy. Hope you enjoy the new images I've shared. I'm excited to get everyone's feedback!

Behind the Scenes at Impressions Photography

palm trees over sanibel

So I was told today by a local wedding planner that Impressions Photography stands out for being organized and keeping everything pleasantly on schedule on a wedding day. I love a good schedule and I love taking the stress of that off of my clients. I want them to enjoy their day, so I do always put a lot of effort into making a good wedding day timeline before the day and then I feel like it is my job to be paying attention to that schedule. If it's time for the bridesmaids to be getting their dresses on I'm the one who is watching the time and letting the ladies know that it's about that time. To me that just seems like part of my job. Hearing that it is an often overlooked aspect for many photographers is definitely unfortunate, but I am happy to offer that to my clients. To me it's just a natural part of making the wedding day as exceptional as I can for each bride and groom.

Starting in March we will be rolling out a community service initiative, Making a Difference in 20 Ways in 2020. It's a little something I have planned to give back to the community that has supported Impressions Photography for all of these years. So definitely check back soon and watch for all the details on how you can join us in making a difference!

Behind the Scenes at Impressions Photography

In with new! Our new website should be up within a few days, but it looks like we might be without a website for short bit. So just wanted to put a little "hello" out there and let anyone know who is on the search for a wedding or portrait photographer, that I'm still here! I would take a trip to the dentist over the pain of website updating, but it's happening and I have a feeling it's going to be a much needed improvement once done. So check back soon, I'll be looking for your feedback and welcoming everyone to our new space soon!

Behind the Scenes at Impressions Photography

Naples Beach Hotel Palm trees

Family portraits definitely have a season in Southwest Florida and we are right in the middle of it! Most of our family portrait clients (actually I think ALL this month) are families who are traveling to Southwest Florida on vacation. I've had clients from as far as Montana and California in the past few weeks taking advantage of a family portrait while on their vacation. With that in mind, my most popular times are always going to be when kids are out of school. Winter and spring breaks start in February and stay pretty consistent through April. Then again in the summer we get another wave of families taking their Florida vacation. I always suggest if you are planning a family vacation during one of those times and you think you may want to do a family portrait it's best to plan those appointments ahead of time. I have families booked into August right now and as the dates get closer the times tend to fill up, especially my popular sunset portrait time. I'd love to talk with you if you are planning that trip to Sanibel or Naples. I'm always happy to capture a few fun memories from any family vacation.
