Captiva Island Elopement

Sarah and Lance were married May 2nd on Captiva Island. That wasn't actually their initial plan, but it turned out to be a day that couldn't have been planned any better. The couple had been planning a Fort Myers wedding that was to include guests coming in from New Jersey and Minnesota, but due to covid travel restrictions and safety concerns guests traveling to their destination wasn't possible. Then their Fort Myers wedding venue was closed too. The couple talked about changing their wedding date, but then decided that an intimate wedding with guests joining via Zoom would be just as memorable. And it definitely was. Guests watched the ceremony from their homes, some even dressed up and had champagne to toast the bride and groom. It was one of the most special and unique weddings I've had the opportunity to photograph.

I absolutely love intimate weddings and elopements and I love that Sarah and Lance decided to change their plans to an intimate event. Small weddings have always been popular on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. The romantic and remote island feel and natural island setting lends itself well to a small wedding. And now with times be a little uncertain, Zoom guests finding themselves on a Sanibel trip may just be more popular than ever!

And if you are looking for an amazing stylist, Sarah also happens to be the best of the best at making brides look stunning! Check out her instagram for more of her work:  @sjweddings239
