MIT Wedding - Boston Photographer

My love of travel was proven to have no limits this summer. I managed to add new states to my 50 Weddings Project, visit some incredible new places and photograph some of the best weddings. My trip to Boston was to photograph Jaya and Guillermo's wedding weekend and to officially check Massachusetts off of the wedding list! We were able to spend a few days in Cape Cod taking pictures for fun and taking in this super lovely get-away. Then to the city where we toured the historic areas, took an obligatory photo in front of the Cheers bar and ate way too much yummy Boston food.

When it came time for Jaya and Guillermo's pictures we had made a really fun photo game plan. The couple are both doing some pretty amazing graduate work at MIT and the campus is very important to them (and it's also where they met!). So the campus was a must stop for pictures. They are also very interested in science, so in addition to photographs on the MIT campus, the Museum of Science was another great backdrop for pictures. This super smart duo was definitely a treat to photograph. They are both super easy going and just lovely people to be around. It was the best reason to find myself in Boston and the most enjoyable way to spend a Sunday!

Florida Wedding Planning Trip - Sanibel Island Wedding Photographer

There is no better time to come check out Florida for your destination wedding. Summer deals are always great this time of year, but come September when it's still the off season but all the kiddos have gone back to school those hotel deals get even sweeter!

I stumbled across this great list in the Palm Beach Post listing all of the deals happening now. Get a free night at The Ritz Carlton, Naples or Casa Ybel on Sanibel Island. You can stay at the Edgewater Hotel in Naples and get an extra 20% off of your stay. These are some of the most beautiful wedding destinations in Florida. If you are planning an elopement.... now might just be the time to hop that flight to Florida!!! Or for those couples that are considering the endless options for a Florida destination wedding, a planning trip to SWFL might just be in order!

The Palm Beach Post list includes dozens of great wedding venues throughout Florida all offering summer specials. Every one on the list is a worthy weekend stay and you can easily venture from there to look for the wedding venue that is the best fit for your destination wedding.

Pictured above is one of my absolute favorite spots for a wedding, Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island. The resort is Old Florida meets fine dining... think rustic elegance. It's filled with lush tropical foliage, quaint ponds and of course an amazing stretch of beach that is perfect for a wedding ceremony. I love photographing weddings at this tropical destination.

If you are considering Casa Ybel or any of the amazing properties that the Palm Beach Post listed for your wedding, I would love to chat with you! I love photographing love! And would love to hear your story and see if I can bring something unique to your wedding photography! Shoot me an email impressphoto@cs.com or give me a ring 239.437.1838 and let's chat soon!!

Hideaway Beach Club Wedding - Marco Island Wedding

There are no shortage of amazing wedding venues in Southwest Florida. Marco Island is a spectacular island with several great places to tie the knot. This particular wedding was held on the beach at the Hideaway Beach Club. The spectacular clubhouse is set right on the beach and a perfect spot for a Marco Island wedding. It's a great combination of elegant country club style amenities with gorgeous sunset views and sandy beach just steps outside the venue. The location has some stunning backdrops for wedding pictures too. From the grand staircase inside to the lush tropical foliage surrounding the property it is one of the best locations for wedding pictures.

Marco Island and all of Southwest Florida offer some of the best places to have a destination wedding. I can say personally having gotten married in the Bahamas that when you leave the country and head to a tropical island, like the Bahamas and all of the Caribbean you do have to let a few things go. My options were limited for florists, wedding music, hair, make-up etc. and that did make wedding planning a little more challenging. Couples who plan their wedding for Marco Island or Sanibel and Captiva Islands can have that same tropical destination feel but have the luxury of lots of great wedding vendors to choose from. I have had the pleasure of working with so many talented wedding professionals in Florida and have seen their fine work at many destination weddings. They really make Southwest Florida extra special!

South Seas Resort Wedding - Captiva Island Photographer

There are so many things that make South Seas Resort on Captiva Island special for a destination wedding. I've been a part of dozens of weddings at South Seas and there are a few things that make this tropical island wedding destination one of the best in Florida. The fact that it is on an island definitely makes it a little more secluded and Captiva Island in general is known for being a little more quiet with less traffic (except for the occasional golf cart or trolley slow down!). Long stretches of beach with remote spots for wedding ceremonies are perfect if you are looking for something private. Beautifully maintained lawns overlooking the water make a great spot for a "no sand in your shoes" wedding ceremony or a picturesque reception site with sunset views. And the fact that these spots all are on the grounds of the hotel so no guests have to drive anywhere and your party can go into the night without a worry all make this an ideal destination wedding location.

I've photographed weddings in tropical destinations around the world. The Bahamas, St. Lucia, Barbados are all amazing too. I had my own wedding in the Bahamas, so I'm definitely a fan of the islands. The fact that guests don't need a passport to get to Captiva Island though (which is equally as stunning) is a plus. The other thing that I know from my own experience planning a tropical destination wedding is that finding wedding vendors can be a challenge when you are planning for some of the Caribbean Islands. I've traveled as the wedding photographer for lots of Caribbean wedding events, but the florist, band, DJ, hair, make-up etc. are a little more challenging. Southwest Florida is very fortunate to be a hub of some of the best wedding professionals I've known anywhere. With these great vendors all accessible to Captiva Island, you have the feel of a remote island get-away without having to accept the services that are only available on a remote island!

Here are a few pictures from Nicole and Julian's South Seas Resort wedding. The couple tied the knot in a very romantic seaside ceremony with an outdoor dinner reception to follow. Their November wedding was the perfect time of year for an outdoor event!

Sioux City Wedding - Iowa Photographer

How much can you fit into one weekend? Emily and Eric definitely made their wedding weekend extra full when they arrived at their wedding with their car already packed and ready to leave their reception heading towards their new home in Chicago!

The celebration that took place after their wedding ceremony was definitely memorable. The couple tied the knot at Sunnybrook Community Church in Sioux City, Iowa. They were joined by friends and family for a reception in the beautiful church foyer. A romantic dinner and some really touching toasts left everyone with smiles.

Immediately following their wedding reception, the couple exited the church with a bubble send off and headed to their car (adorably decorated to make their drive to Chicago extra special for the newlyweds!).

Congratulations to Emily and Eric! So thankful that I could be there to photograph their special Sioux City, Iowa wedding!

Marina Inn Wedding - Nebraska Photographer

Nikki and Jared tied the knot in the most perfect way in July. Their ceremony was overlooking the Missiouri River, one of their favorite locations. The Sioux City couple has enjoyed boating on the river since they first met, so the location they picked for their wedding ceremony was not only beautiful, it also had special meaning to them.

Their photographs also captured the river as well as the beauty of their venue, The Marina Inn (now the Delta Hotel by Marriott) in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The hotel has a very romantic courtyard with a fountain as well as a tree lined walkway that added a little something special to their wedding pictures. The couple did a first look on the walkway just hours before their wedding ceremony. They were able to capture all of their pictures before the ceremony and took their evening to celebrate and enjoy their time with their guests.

Nikki looked stunning in her wedding gown from Rhylan Lang in Omaha. The bridesmaids coral color also popped among the summery green background.

At the end of the evening we did leave the wedding reception for a few minutes to enjoy the sunset over Sioux City. I always ask my clients if they want to sneak back outside for sunset pictures. The Marina Inn is a great venue for getting those extra special pictures. The sun setting over the river and Sioux City is absolutely stunning.

Congratulations again to Nikki and Jared! Their day was so much fun and definitely left us smiling!!

50 Weddings Project

July was a great month for the Impressions Photography 50 Weddings Project. If you're not familiar, I have a goal to photograph a wedding in every state in the United States. This past month I photographed weddings in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New York, Iowa and Nebraska. I've definitely made progress with my project, but I have a ton more weddings to photograph!

If you are planning a North Dakota wedding I want to talk to you!! Or if you have a friend in Missouri who is getting married, pass my info along! Depending on my availability, I can offer a package upgrade if you can help me meet the 50 weddings goal! I'm almost half way there, but many more states to be added to the list. Definitely reach out if you want to be a part of my adventure!!!
