Honeymoon Photos at Bowditch Beach on Fort Myers Beach

Wondering what I suggest for the best things to do in Southwest Florida? I created a couples specific list down below, but first if you’re planning a honeymoon or romantic getaway in Southwest Florida, scheduling a couples photography session on Fort Myers Beach is one of the most meaningful ways to remember your trip.

This newly married couple was visiting Fort Myers Beach for their honeymoon and chose Bowditch Beach as the perfect location for their sunset photos. As a Southwest Florida couples and honeymoon photographer, I love meeting vacationing couples at Bowditch Point Park because it offers wide open shoreline, soft dunes, and one of the most beautiful sunset views on Fort Myers Beach.

Located next to the iconic Pink Shell Beach Resort, Bowditch is a quieter public beach access that feels peaceful and intimate, ideal for honeymoon photos, engagement sessions, or anniversary portraits.

Check out their pictures and then read on to hear my list of favorite things for couples to do in the local area... From a local!

5 Things Newly Engaged or Honeymooning Couples Should Do on a Southwest Florida vacation

If you’re planning a trip to Southwest Florida to celebrate your engagement or honeymoon, here are five experiences that will make your stay unforgettable:

1. Catch Live Music & Embrace the Island Vibe

There’s something about live music that just feels like vacation.

On Sanibel Island, Traders often features local favorite Danny Morgan, and it’s such a fun place to relax and soak in that laid-back island energy.

On Fort Myers Beach, The Whale is another great stop. Grab a drink, sit back, and just enjoy being together.

2. Explore Nature Together

Southwest Florida is filled with beautiful places to slow down and reconnect.

Take a walk through J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge you’ll see birds, mangroves, and incredible coastal scenery.

Or, if you’re feeling adventurous in Fort Myers, rent a kayak near Manatee Park. Floating quietly through the water while dozens of gentle manatees glide nearby is something you’ll never forget.

3. Add a Little Friendly Competition

My husband and I love a good mini-golf challenge, and PopStroke is such a fun date idea. It’s playful, lighthearted, and perfect for couples who like a little competition mixed with laughs.

4. Watch the Sunset (Non-Negotiable)

This is a must.

Southwest Florida sunsets are unreal. The sky reflects off the Gulf, turning pink, orange, and gold. It feels like the world slows down for a few minutes.

And Bowditch Beach? It’s spectacular for catching those final seconds as the sun dips below the horizon.

5. Get Professional Photos of the Two of You

You knew this one was coming 😉

You can travel anywhere, eat anywhere, and see anything… but nothing brings you back to that exact moment like a photograph.

A honeymoon or engagement trip is a once-in-a-lifetime season. Having beautiful, natural couples portraits taken on the beach gives you something tangible to hold onto long after the trip is over.
