Hello! I'm Krista. Great to meet you!
If you’re here, you likely already know I am a Southwest Florida wedding and portrait photographer. You may know about my work with Impressions Photography, that I earned my degree in photography, have owned my business serving Sanibel Island and Fort Myers for decades, photographed over 1,000 weddings, and worked with countless families on the beach and beyond.... All things I love and I'm super proud of.
What you may not know is that I actually have a second photography business. In addition to my portrait and wedding work, I also have a business that offers classes and resources to help people with photo organizing and preservation. That business simply goes by my name, Krista K.
That work became my mission after Hurricane Ian devastated Southwest Florida.
In the aftermath of the storm, I helped families salvage water-damaged photographs, often the only remaining images of loved ones, homes, and moments that could never be recreated. It was emotional, overwhelming, and eye-opening. I realized how fragile photographs truly are, and how unprepared most people are to protect them.
That experience led me to write my first book, Beyond the Storm, which tells the stories of photo loss and recovery while teaching practical steps for protecting family photos. What started as one project quickly turned into something much bigger.
From there, I created my first photo preservation course... and then another. And then workshops. And then a growing online community of people (now nearing 100,000!) who care deeply about their pictures but don’t know where to start. Today, I teach photo preservation nationally, helping families understand how to organize, back up, and protect both old print photos and modern digital images.
That work has reached far beyond Southwest Florida. I now share photo preservation education with a national audience through Instagram, YouTube, courses, and live workshops. I’ve spoken at conferences, collaborated with brands, and will even be hosting a photo preservation workshop at sea aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise, teaching these skills to a group of people who want to finally feel confident about their photo collections.
As that side of my work continues to grow, I’ll be speaking at a national convention in Boston this spring and releasing another book focused on photo preservation and the responsibility of caring for family photos. It has been a little bit of a whirlwind, but as someone who takes great joy in helping others it is very fulfilling.
That being said, I do have one true passion that goes back to my earliest memories. My first true love has always been taking pictures. So even during the moments where I'm being pulled to help others with their photos, my true love will always be showing up with a camera in my hand and helping my Impressions Photography clients to get the most memorable photographs of their wedding or beach photo shoot.
If you’re interested in learning more about photo preservation, organizing family photos, or keeping your digital and printed images safe, you can find me sharing tips and education on Instagram and YouTube. That’s where I focus on teaching, explaining, and helping people take small, manageable steps toward photo safety.
And if you are simply looking for someone who truly loves photographs to capture your important moments, let's talk! I'd love to be your professional photographer!
