Casa Ybel Family Photographs | Sanibel Photographer

baby crying sitting on the beach

I am feeling an entire Impressions Photography marketing campaign could be focused on this image. I've met so many grooms that I am sure can relate to this poor girl. I know pictures aren't always fun for everyone, but I definitely try to make the experience as fun and easy as possible. If it's a wedding party that is more interested in getting to cocktail hour or a baby that is fighting nap time, I definitely know that pictures can be a drag for some, so keeping things moving along and making the experience entertaining is so important.

Luckily for us this was the last picture of the evening at this Casa Ybel family portrait. We were able to get some stunning Sanibel sunset pictures and great candid moments of the entire family on the beach before the inevitable happened. Most of my family portraits last between 45 minutes and an hour and with small children that time frame is usually just perfect. We always begin with more posed pictures and then transition to relaxed and casual candid style beach pictures. Sometimes that even includes a few tears! It was the ending to a fabulous Sanibel photo shoot... and with so many wonderful moments leading up to it, I think that is the perfect ending!

Casa Ybel Wedding | Sanibel Photographer

casa ybel beach wedding

I think I will always rank this beautiful beach resort among my favorite wedding venues in the world. Casa Ybel is that one place that is just timeless. The shell covered beach is great for pictures, but so is the architecture on this iconic property. It's simply stunning and offers the best photography backdrops.

I was at Casa Ybel earlier this week and I was excited to see some changes and progress on their beautiful grounds. A little something exciting is definitely happening. This already very sought after and super charming patio area is getting an upgrade. Casa Ybel Resort has always been the place to go on the Sanibel if you are looking for a wedding venue that is oozing with charm and luxury. The adorable patio area is really popular for intimate weddings like this one pictured. Small groups fit perfectly under the awning cover. It's private and open to some of the islands most stunning landscaping too. And I love the great lighting for pictures. I have photographed dozens of weddings at Casa Ybel and I definitely love photographing events that use that patio. And now, I am so excited to see the progress on what is going to be even more incredible. The awning is gone and they are well underway to add a more permanent structure to the patio. I can already see that it is going to be fabulous and it looks like it will be ready just in time for Sanibel Islands busy fall wedding season! It might take a little imagination for a couple weeks, but once it's ready I think it's going to be even more dreamy!

Selecting the Best "Getting Ready" Location on a Wedding Day

palms on the beach in naples

bride with palms at naples beach hotel

Where you put your dress on is more than just where you put your dress on. The location where you choose to get ready is going to be where we capture all of those pre-wedding details, the dress hanging, your wedding day shoes and jewelry. And while I have made that work everywhere from a preschool in the basement of a church (challenging, but nailed it) to a cliff side retreat on an island off the coast of Mexico (not challenging, easily nailed it) you are definitely getting the best pictures when you choose a stunning venue to start. And it doesn't have to be the place where you are getting married or holding your wedding reception. With this adorable bride, she is actually a Naples, Florida resident who got married at a church in Naples, but knowing that she wanted that lush beautiful backdrop for some pictures, she booked a hotel room at the Naples Beach Hotel to capture all of her pre-wedding getting ready pictures. It worked out brilliantly. The variety that it added to her pictures and the stunning areas we had to work with for her detail photographs gave her the best wedding pictures. If you are planning a wedding for Chapel By The Sea on Captiva Island or a backyard ceremony at your home, that doesn't mean you are limited to those venues for your pre-wedding pictures. Select one of the most picturesque hotels to begin your day at. A room at Casa Ybel on Sanibel Island or The Westin in Cape Coral will give you something amazing to begin your wedding pictures with. And let's face it, having mimosas on the balcony of one of those relaxing waterfront resorts is really a good way to start a wedding day!

The Impressions Photography team is always happy to help with suggestions for where would be best for you and your wedding party to get ready too. We actually create a customized timeline for every couple who gets in touch with us and we create a completely customized quote for our services that is catered to the exact needs of that bride and groom. If you are still looking for a photographer for your wedding day don't hesitate to reach out. Our years of experience photographing in SWFL has given us the opportunity to help hundreds of couples with their wedding day timeline and photography. We would love to see if we are a good fit for your wedding day too!

St Regis Punta Mita Photography | Mexico Photographer

There is never a bad time to travel to a tropical destination! I'm happily making my way over to Sanibel Island most days, but this trip was a little bit further. St. Regis Punta Mita, Mexico was the destination for this fun adventure. If you've never been to Punta Mita, it's unlike anywhere else in Mexico. It's an amazing destination for a wedding too. It's palm tree filled property is just overflowing with the best picture opportunities. If you are considering destination wedding venues, first I'll always say check out Sanibel and Captiva Islands! BUT if you are thinking about venturing a little further than Florida, Punta Mita might just be the place for you! And of course with any destination wedding, a photographer is just going to be necessary and this traveling photog has her bags packed and I know my way to Punta Mita!!! Let's go!

Creating a Wedding Album From Your Pictures

Bridesmaids pictured with flowers in Naples

This blog post goes out to all of the Impressions Photography clients who have already gotten married, you're back home, settled into day to day life again and now, nine years later you realize you should probably have done something with all of those wedding pictures (which all still live on your computer). True story, this week I am helping a client create an album from their wedding which was nine years ago. But good news, it's not too late. I definitely get how time can get away form you and if this wasn't my day to day gig I probably would let it slip by too. Use your next anniversary as a reason to get that done! And, it's actually super simple.

The album process is about as stress free as I could possibly make it. So easy, you do nothing and we completely create an album for you. That's it. We can select the images, have a completely customized layout created and then you get the chance to see it before it's printed. Approve it to print or make any photo changes you would like at that point. We also welcome our clients to get as involved in the process as they would like. Some select every image and even have directions on how they would like each to appear (that would never be me btw!). So in honor of those that share my gene for delegating, I'm here for you, delegate to me! I'm happy to get that album started for you today!
