There is one place that knows how to do an Independence Day celebration and that is South Seas Resort on Captiva Island. If you are a fellow Floridian and looking for a last minute weekend get-away it's not too late to get in your car and get to this amazing celebration. This year they are kicking off the festivities tonight with a good old fashioned all American hot dog eating contest! But the big event that is definitely worth the drive from anywhere is tomorrow, Saturday July 1st when they put on an amazing fireworks display. I've had the pleasure of attending this fun filled event several times and it is by far the most impressive fireworks display you'll find. The resort makes an entire evening of it with food and activities for everyone. Fireworks set to patriotic music have been the showcase in the past and I'm sure this year will not disappoint either.

For couples who are planning a wedding, summer in Florida has a lot of benefits. And planning a July 2018 wedding around this fun filled time might be enough to give your special weekend an extra memorable twist. Less traffic, quiet beaches and lower hotel rates also make it a nice time to consider for setting a Florida wedding date.

My husband and I actually got married on Independence Day weekend in the Bahamas. It was the Bahamas independence, not the U.S. but their festivities definitely added an extra element of fun to our destination wedding weekend.

And of course if you're considering a Florida wedding (for any season!) don't hesitate to reach out. I would love to discuss my services and also share my experiences with some really wonderful destination weddings.
