One thing I’ve learned after photographing thousands of sunset sessions on Sanibel Island is that it doesn’t take an extremely long photo session to create beautiful family memories.
A lot of families worry they need a huge production to get great pictures together while they are on vacation. But honestly, some of my favorite family images have happened during quick, relaxed beach sessions where everyone simply enjoyed being together.
For my Sanibel Island family photo sessions, I offer three different options depending on the size of your group and the type of experience you are hoping for.
Mini Family Photo Session – 20 Minutes
The mini session is designed for smaller immediate families and is perfect if you want something quick, simple, and easy.
Even though the session is shorter, there is still plenty of time to create a fun variety of family pictures together on the beach. We move quickly, keep things relaxed, and focus on natural interactions and genuine moments.
This option is especially popular with families visiting Sanibel on vacation who want beautiful sunset beach photos without taking up a large portion of their evening.
And honestly, my mini session clients are always amazed by how many great images we are able to create in a short amount of time.
Standard Family Photo Session – 40 Minutes
The standard session gives us more time for candid moments, more variety, and a slightly more relaxed pace.
This is a great option for families who want:
more combinations of people
more playful candid images
walking photos along the beach
more variety in poses and backgrounds
extra time with young children
Many families choose this option because it gives us enough time to create both traditional family portraits and those relaxed in-between moments that often become favorites.
Upgraded Family Photo Session - 60 Minutes
The upgraded session is what I typically recommend for extended families or larger groups visiting Sanibel Island together.
It is also a great fit for smaller families who would like:
an outfit change
multiple beach locations
more creative variety
a slower paced experience
additional individual or couple portraits
When photographing larger family groups, the additional time helps keep the experience enjoyable and stress-free while allowing us to create a wide range of images for everyone involved.
The Most Important Part
No matter which session option you choose, the goal is always the same:
beautiful photographs and a fun experience together.
I never want families to feel like they need the biggest package to get meaningful images. Some families truly only need a short session to create wonderful vacation memories together.
And one of the things I hear most often after a Sanibel beach session is that the experience itself was fun.
That matters to me just as much as the final photographs.
Because years from now, these pictures become more than just images from a vacation. They become reminders of time spent together on the beach, kids who have grown up too quickly, grandparents gathered with everyone in one place, and moments that deserved to be remembered.
