Kim & Grant are wedding planning and I got to join them in Sarasota to capture their engagement pictures. The couple is planning a spring wedding for Captiva Island but wanted to do their engagement shoot in their city, Sarasota. We used the waterfront and downtown area as a background for their dusk shoot. Sarasota has a beautiful marina area that worked out perfectly for their pictures and the downtown area gave us a great variety all within walking distance. The location was tropical but still very different than their island beach wedding. I always love engagement pictures because it's a fun time to get to know my clients a little better. We definitely had fun with their photographs, now I really can't wait for their wedding!!

If you are wedding planning and looking for a photographer, I would love to chat with you. Often I'm able to come right to my clients hometowns to do their engagement pictures, even if they are planning a destination wedding ins Southwest Florida. Sometimes that's as close as Sarasota and sometimes its Chicago! But no matter what I'm always happy to talk about options to make engagement pictures extra special!

Sanibel Island Family Portrait Photographer

It was just over 20 years ago that I first found myself on Sanibel Island. Since then I have made Sanibel a bit of a second home for Impressions Photography. I'm on the island (and enjoying that causeway drive) three or four days a week. It really never does get old. And now after having photographed hundreds of families, weddings and events on Sanibel and Captiva, I feel like I know every corner of the islands. I am always happy to suggest locations for engagement pictures and family photographs, however I will say, there really isn't a specific area that is the single best. From Lighthouse beach to The Sundial (where these were taken) all the way to Blind Pass, every beach area is just as stunning as the next. So if you are planning a trip to Sanibel or Captiva you've got all the making for some amazing family pictures! And if you are anywhere in Southwest Florida, I'm always going to suggest taking my drive across the causeway and making a Sanibel Island family portrait part of your vacation!

South Seas Resort Wedding | Captiva Island Wedding

I have so many stories about South Seas Resort and memories of great times that I could talk for hours about this property. Amazing weddings, wonderful adventures and even some life long friendships started because I was on this island oasis. Some of my first published weddings in major magazines, like The Knot and Brides, came from weddings on this Captiva Island property. It was while photographing on South Seas Resort that I met clients who then flew me from New Orleans to New York and Chicago then even to Omaha for shoots! A private jet taking me to Lake of the Ozarks and a sideline photography gig for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers literally all came from meetings at South Seas Resort. This quaint yet sprawling beach resort on Captiva Island will always be my home away from home. Many years after that first ride over the Sanibel Island Causeway and out to the furthest point of Captiva Island I am still thrilled every time I have another event at the resort and I will never pass up an opportunity to photograph a wedding or family on the island. You never know what new and wonderful things might happen from a South Seas Resort meeting!
