The Knot - Hall Of Fame Winner

Honored is an understatement! After 5 years of receiving The Knot's Best of Weddings Award (including again for 2019!) Impressions Photography is now part of the their Hall of Fame group of wedding professionals!! I pour my heart and soul into every event that I photograph and being recognized for that passion is an extraordinary feeling! Thank you to all of my wonderful clients who have taken the time to review my services over the years on The Knot. The awards are largely based on your kind words and I am forever thankful to have such a fabulous group of people in my life!

Pictured is a beach picture from the Captiva Island wedding of Chelsea and Darby on the left and Brooke on the right who got married in Des Moines, Iowa this past summer..... and one palm tree also from Captiva! Because palm trees and weddings, what more does anyone need :)

Thanks again everyone!!! If the Impressions Photography 2019 weddings are a fraction of as fabulous as 2018 has been it will still be a super year!

Another Adventure in Puerto Vallarta!!

It has been just over 10 years since I photographed my first wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was actually in an area called Las Caletas. A neat little island like oasis where couples can rent the entire facility for their wedding day. Guests are shuttled by boat to the secluded beach really to really set the mood for the day. Perhaps the most charming part is that after dark the entire area is lit only by candles. It's an unforgettable scene!

Now, fast forward almost exactly 10 years and I'm flying back to Puerto Vallarta next week. This time I was extended an invitation from the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita to explore their property and find out more about the wedding services that they offer. I'll be among several amazing wedding planners and stylists to share in the experience. I first met this group when the Four Seasons Nevis offered each of us an invitation to tour their property. I was thrilled to find out I would be reunited with the same fun group for another Four Seasons experience.

A styled shoot in Mexico is also part of this adventure. I've photographed over a dozen weddings in Mexico, but this will be the first styled shoot. With so many amazing locations to photograph at in the Punta Mita area, I'm sure the shoot will be a treat too! So definitely watch in the coming weeks for lots of pictures and updates on the beautiful Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita! If it's anything like my experience touring the Four Seasons Nevis I'm sure I'll be 100% wowed and excited to share all the details!!!

Customized Timelines For Each Wedding Day

Among the many hats the wedding photographer wears one of the often overlooked is the important job of creating a timeline for pictures. This is important so that couples can realistically get all of the wedding pictures they hoped for. Having been fortunate enough to be part of hundreds of weddings, making that timeline is a bit of a specialty of mine! I'm happy to offer this service complimentary to all couples planning a wedding. Take a quick survey and we can give you a detailed timeline of how we feel photography would flow best and also help as you are scheduling other aspects of your day. Reach out today to have that survey sent right to you! impressphoto@cs.com

Caribbean Bound!

Closing up shop early this week and I'm Caribbean bound. I've been invited to join a group of wedding professionals for a trip to the Four Seasons on the island of Nevis (neighboring St. Kitts). I've had the pleasure of visiting St. Kitts before, but never made it all the way to Nevis so this is definitely a treat. And, as a lover of all things Hamilton, I'm feeding my ridiculous obsession by visiting the birthplace of said founding father on Nevis. So, excited is an understatement. Hamilton, a weekend of wedding talk and a few more palm tree pictures and I'm one happy camper!

Brooke & Will's Stunning Castle Wedding

From perfectly planned details to the ideal weather, Brooke and Will's destination wedding was something out of a fairy tail. Throw in a real castle, some adorable children and a couple that is charming and a blast to be around and you have the making for a wedding that everyone would want to be witness to. I happened to be the very fortunate wedding photographer who got to do just that. The Impressions Photography team was there to witness this great love story as well as capture all of the moments as they unfolded. The couple opt to be traditional and not see each other before the ceremony. I love that in just a little time taken away from the party we were able to get such a variety of images of the couple. When I work with couples to make their wedding day timeline I always have flexibility and know that things may change. With Brooke and Will our well thought out plan came together just as we had hoped. Each image we discussed was captured and done so without interrupting the celebration. For many couples opting to do pictures before the ceremony is a nice way to alleviate that concern, but for my more traditional brides and grooms, Brooke and Will's wedding day is a fabulous example of how we can capture thoughtful wedding images after the ceremony without taking away from the true meaning of the day.

Hope you enjoy a glimpse of this wonderful couples day. If you are planning a wedding let's talk about what we can do to make your wedding day extra special too!
