Sioux City Wedding - Iowa Photographer

When I photograph weddings in the Midwest they frequently happen during summer and fall months, but when Katie and Jake planned their day, they picked the middle of winter and what happened to be the day after one of the biggest blizzards of the year! And every part of their day was extra special because of it! Beautiful fresh snow lined the streets and made for a magical winter setting. Their ceremony was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. There we found an quaint and timeless alley with a rustic old building covered in fresh snow. We used that area, as well as the beautiful interior of the church for their wedding pictures before the ceremony. After the ceremony the bride and groom along with all of their guests headed to Stoney Creek Hotel for an evening reception filled with tons of dancing and food provided by local favorite Sneaky's Chicken (if you haven't tried it, it is everything yummy!). Next door to the hotel was one other great photo opportunity that we couldn't pass up, the Sioux City Art Center (also a great wedding venue!). It made a nice backdrop for a quick shot of the couple dancing! The evening was beautiful and I could just tell by the packed dance floor that the bride and groom's guests all had an amazing evening too! Everything about Katie and Jake's day was Iowa wedding perfection!!!

Casa Ybel Resort Wedding - Sanibel Photographer

Sanibel Island Beach Wedding

Weddings at Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island are simply magical. The sound of waves crashing on the shore as Julie and Bert exchanged vows was something their guests will never forget. The couple, along with their closest friends and family, came all the way from Chicago to gather on the beach for an intimate destination wedding. The wonderful Reverend Dan performed the ceremony which ended in Jewish tradition when Bert stomped on the glass and shouted mazel tov! It was so fun to see the couple and their guests enjoying the celebration. We had a blast capturing all of their wedding day memories. From the sweet moment where the couple had a first look under the banyan trees till the end of the night when the couple dances to their quartet on the patio of the Thistle Lodge, every moment was full of joy and such a pleasure to photograph!

Engagement Pictures - Chicago Photographer

Engagement pictures in Chicago will always just be the most fun. I have photographed several couples around the city and every time we find even more new and interesting corners and fun spots for photography. Last month I had a fun evening with Dave and Chelsi in Chi-town! The couple is planning their wedding for Dallas next year and flew up to meet me in Dave's hometown of Chicago just so we could capture their engagement. Chelsi, who is originally from Fort Myers, Florida had been talking about a trip back to Southwest Florida to capture their pictures on Sanibel Island. However, when they found out that I was going to be in Chicago that all changed and on a just a couple weeks notice booked flights and planned a trip! The day we selected ended up being overcast and I am pretty sure the sun never peaked out. I suggested we meet late in the afternoon and focus on getting a lot of the Chicago skyline and dusk images so that the grey sky wouldn't be a factor. I'm so glad that we did. It ended up being perfection. We got the city from several vantage points and captured a variety of engagement pictures for them. It really was a fun evening of pictures in an amazing location. I do find myself in Chicago more often than I ever think I will be! For other couples who are planning a Florida wedding and would like to capture engagement pictures or just take an opportunity to meet in person, I'm always happy to arrange that when I'm in the city. I had the opportunity to meet another couple who is getting married on Captiva Island while I was there as well. It was really nice to get to know my couples who are planning destination weddings. So don't hesitate Chicago couples! I'm definitely already scheduled to be back in the city in July, however you just never know when something else will pop up!
